What is upholstery / reupholstery?
Upholstery or reupholstery is the process of stripping your furniture to the bare bones and building it back up again, like new. This can include inspection of the frame (tightening joints, structural repairs), replacing springs, webbing or hardware, adding new padding (foam, polyester padding, down), and finally recovering the furniture with new fabric and trim.
What is recovery / recovering?
Furniture recovery / recovering is the process of adding new fabric to your piece of furniture. Sometimes, your furniture frame and padding are in good condition and do not need to be replaced. You may just want a new look or to replace an old and faded fabric. This is where recovery comes in.
How long does upholstery take?
Our current schedule is about 14 weeks. We are working hard to add more staff to our team so that we can better assist you. Job lead times fluctuate so please contact us for more up-to-date information on our schedule times.
Will you pickup or deliver my furniture?
Yes! We can pick up or deliver your furniture for an additional fee.
Should I provide my own fabric?
We can use the fabric you supply for your upholstery project. However, it is recommended that fabric be selected through us. Not all fabrics are created equally and low-quality fabrics will not last, are harder to work with (costing more labor), and may not look as expected on the final product.
How do I select a fabric for my upholstery project?
When it comes to fabric there are so many options it can be hard to choose. Use our Fabric Finder to narrow down your search. Then come visit our sample room to see fabrics in person. You can even take them home with you!
Which type of fabric should I select for my project?
There are many things to consider when selecting a fabric. Solid fabrics are typically cheaper and easier to work with than fabrics with patterns. This is due to the additional time it takes to match patterns during the sewing and cutting process. Some fabrics like mohair (wool) or leather cost significantly more per yard than fabrics like cotton, polyester, or vinyl.
How much does upholstery cost?
There are many factors in calculating a price for an upholstery project, including the complexity, the number of pieces, and the fabric used. Please contact us for a quote.
Is upholstery cheaper than buying new furniture?
That depends. The cost for new, high-quality furniture can be very high. The cost for new, low-quality furniture can be very low. Low-quality furniture will not last very long, which makes it a less than ideal choice for those that want their furniture to last. When we upholster or recover your furniture, we exclusively use high-quality materials with work done by the best upholsterers in Utah with over 150 years of combined experience. When you choose Wardell Upholstery you can rest assured that your piece of furniture will endure through the years.

My cushions sag, can you fix them?
